Foosball > Foosball Tables

No hard drive, no remotes, no equal – foosball holds its own in the digital age. In the nearly 50 years since the first foosball tables came to the U.S., the game has survived competition from countless video game crazes, the internet, TiVo, and fantasy football, just to name a few. Isn’t it remarkable that a game which requires actual participation (while in a standing position) yet lacks Dolby Surround Sound, HD displays, instant replays, and cheat codes has managed to gain popularity from one generation to the next?

Actually, “foos” players don’t find it remarkable at all. They understand the draw of a game that has both players in the same room, facing each other across the playing field, matching strategies and  skills to move a literal ball along a literal surface.

Nor should you consider it remarkable when you bring your Sportscraft foosball table home and the entire family joins in. Before you know it, you’ll be organizing family foosball tournament, wowing each other with aerial shots and other tricks, and genuinely enjoying time together – unplugged and offline.

About Foosball
Understanding foosball is easy; mastering the game may take a little more time. Let’s start with the basics:

  • Foosball can be played by two or four people at a time.
  • Each player controls a set of foosmen attached to a series of rods.
  • Foosball tables vary in size, but almost universally include 8 rows of foosmen (each team of players controls 4 of the 8 rows).
  • Each row of foosmen has unique duties. The first row is the goalie. Middle rows include your defensive foosmen. The last row (typically the 6th of 8 rows of foosmen) is used to score against your opponent.
  • The purpose of the game is to score goals against your opponent by shooting the ball into an opening at the end of the table.
  • A typical game includes up to 9 “balls” (the ball is put into play nine times).
    The first team to score 5 goals wins the game.
